Sozos-Christos Theodoulou, M Law, D.E.A., was born in Nicosia, Cyprus, on the 18th February 1978. He is married to Elena-Cosmina (née Duţan), Ph. D. Physical Chemistry, and has a son, Christos, born on the 16th May, 2008.

After finishing school with honours, he spent two years with the Cypriot National Guard as a second lieutenant in infantry telecommunications. In 2002, he obtained his maîtrise en droit (Master in Law) from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. A year later, he was admitted at the Cyprus Bar and, in the following summer, he was a UNITAR scholar at the well-known Hague Academy of International Law. In 2004, he became the first student to obtain his D.E.A. in International Relations from the prestigious Graduate Institute of International Studies of Geneva, in only one year. He is also holder of the WIPO Academy Certificate in Intellectual Property and of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Higher Diploma in Public Relations (with credit).

Nowadays, a practising lawyer by profession, a former advisor of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland and a former assessor judge at the Larnaca Industrial Disputes Court, Mr. Theodoulou is member and/or regular attendee of the meetings of all major associations in Intellectual Property Law: INTA, AIPPI, FICPI, ECTA, MARQUES, PTMG, ITMA, ASIPI, APAA, UNION, ITMA, CIPA, GRUR, APRAM, et al. He participates in several committees of these associations and contributes actively in a number of them. The legal practice of Mr. Theodoulou includes, inter alia, trademark filing and prosecution, handling of patent cases and advice to foreign clients, preparation of arbitration decisions on domain name disputes, anti-counterfeiting action, various other IP matters and litigation. 

Mr. Theodoulou is the writer of many articles and studies in various scientific magazines and newspapers. He has, especially, published a notable book in French, entitled “Bases militaires en droit international: le cas de Chypre” (Bibliopolis, 2006), the English version of which (“Military Bases in International Law: the case of Cyprus”) will follow soon. Moreover, the Cyprus Bar included his legal article “The UN General Assembly and Treaty-Making: An Overview” in the December 2007 edition of its periodical “Nomiko Vima”. More of his publications will appear in the near future.         

Mr. Theodoulou has extensive participation in social life. He is the President of the Cyprus-Swiss Association and the Secretary of the Rotary Club of Larnaca,  he is also a Council member of the United Nations Association of Cyprus, and of the Larnaca Reserve Officers’ Association.   

Mr. Theodoulou speaks and writes Greek (mother tongue), English and French (fluently), Italian, German, Romanian and Spanish.
